The Nevada Women’s Film Collective hosted a Young Filmmaker Workshop as a part of the 2016 festival. The workshop was open to children ages 8 to 16 years old.
The workshop was held on February 20, 2016 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the Film Department studios and editing facilities. During the workshop, the young filmmakers learned the process of making a short film including the script writing process, shooting and editing. The finished films were then shown at a special screening at the Nevada Women’s Film Festival held the weekend of March 4-6, 2016 at the beautiful Springs Preserve.
The Young Filmmaker Workshop was led by David Schmoeller, Associate Professor, UNLV Department of Film. David has been an internationally recognized feature film and television writer-director (10 feature films, many hours of network television, and numerous award-winning shorts) for more than three decades. David served on the Board of Directors of the Nevada Women’s Film Collective and as Executive Jurist of the 2016 Nevada Women’s Film Festival.
